Capcom + Namco + Sega Collab Revealed As Project X Zone

I’m normally the center of my Capcom hate on this site. March was not a good month for Capcom at all, and boy howdy was it a PR nightmare for the company. But today, I’ll hold back my hatred for reasons you’ll see in a moment. Remember that teaser image that popped up last week that showed color bars depicted the colors of the characters (that Japanese gamers sorta solved)? Well, Capcom, Namco and Sega have revealed the game and it will be known as Project X Zone. Instead of a fighting game, it’s a strategy RPG. If your memory called back to Namco X Capcom right there, then you’ll be pleased to hear that this is the sequel. Not much else is known, but the trio did reveal which character would be in the game so far. And there’s one character I’m sure many Mega Man fans will be pleased to see in the roster. Check it out after the break.

On The Capcom Side:

Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine (in their RE: Revelations getup)

Dante (Devil May Cry series)

Dimitri (Darkstalkers series)

Ryu and Ken (Street Fighter series)

Zero and Mega Man X (Mega Man X series)

On The Namco Side:

Yuri Lowell and Estelle (Tales of Vesperia)

Jin Kazama and Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken series)

Kite and Black Rose (.hack series)

KOS-MOS and T-elos (Xenosaga trilogy)

Sanger Zonvolt (Super Robot Wars series)

And On Sega’s Side:

Akira Yuki and Pai Chan (Virtua Fighter series)

Touma and Cyrille (Shining Force EXA)

Ulala (Space Channel 5)

Kurt and Riela (Valkyria Chronicles series)

The list of characters is short, but I’m very, very certain that this list will get bigger. And do you see that? Mega Man X! Guess he’s not too dead after all. If I missed anyone revealed so far, I’ll add them to the list above. The platform for this will the the 3DS. And wow, this is quite a nab for the 3DS. Certainly this is yet another wave of good press for the once struggling system, especially considering what’s happening to the Vita in Japan. Now when can all gawk on about this awesome crossover, but since we know that this is a sequel to Namco X Capcom, will Project X Zone suffer the same fate of not being released outside of Japan? We’ll just have to wait and see. There’s not much on the official website now other than the logo. No date has been set yet.
