Night-Time Listenings 28

NTL was out for a week, but now we’re back in a big way as this week as all Orchestral! We flew in first with Ace Combat 5. Then we climed a colossus with Shadow of the Colossus. We trained hard with Soul Calibur 3. We played god with ActRaiser. And finally we soared through the skies with Super Mario Galaxy.

Night-Time Listenings Wrap-Up: Halloween Special

For eight days we covered the topic of Halloween. The music we listened to ranged from dark, to mellow, to unnerving. We took a breather in  Resident Evil. Dreaded the Ishimura in Dead Space. We walked the haunted halls of Luigi’s Mansion. We braced for hell in Silent Hill 3. We feared the Alchemy Lab in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. We feared pianos in Super Mario 64. We inquired about the life of Boos in Super Mario Galaxy. And finally we ended where we began with another Resident Evil composition.

Night-Time Listenings Wrap-Up: Week of 10/15/12

We survived the bedlam of New York Comic-Con and took a much needed break for our feet to relax. In the meantime, we listened to Soundset remixes, where music from one game was remixed using another game’s instrument. The week started with a climb through Jakob Elevator from Mega Man X8. Wily’s Fortress was raided for the ninth time in Mega Man 9. Bowser’s Castle beckoned us in Mario Kart Wii. We flew in the wind in Super Mario Galaxy. And finally the Dark King was slain in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Cry Manly Tears At This Super Mario Music Compilation

Here’s another compilation of Mario music. But this is no orchestral arrangement or some half-assed compilation that only covers the core Mario games. Oh no. This gets almost alllll of them. We’re talking from Donkey Kong, to Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Paper Mario, Mario Golf (you know, that game I didn’t get to play in my youth). Even Luigi gets in on the action! Just as amazing is the effects on display in the video and how creatively the sprites, footage, and text is used. Just watch. And cry…
