Dead Island Publisher Acquires Saints Row, Reveals Trailer And Launch Date For Saints Row IV

All is good in the land of The Saints. The much publicized collapse of THQ meant that properties were going to be sold off, including the Saints Row franchise. Volition, and its Saints Row game, went to Koch Media. Little did many knew was that Koch Media was the parent company of Deep Silver, the publisher of Dead Island and the upcoming Dead Island Riptide. As evidenced by the trailer they just revealed, Saints Row IV is alive and well. If fact, it has a release date: August 20, 2013.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance “Jack The Ripper” Trailer

New cutscene and gameplay footage has been released for Platinum Games’s hack n’ slash title Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.  The trailer showcases protagonist Raiden under control of his “Jack The Ripper” persona during a corporate raid in Colorado.  This persona has been hinted at in previous Metal Gear Solid titles as Jack was a child soldier made to fight during the Liberian Civil War under the wing of Solidus Snake.  The former was injected with nanomachines by the Patriots but repressed his memories of his horrific childhood.  Once Raiden remembers he starts to suffer with self pity but finds redemption in his wife and child during Guns of The Patriots.  His “other self,” lying dormant, surfaces during Rising and is a critical factor of his actions and mindset later in the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 Teaser Trailer Revealed

Capture

On January 10, the official Cyberpunk 2077 trailer was revealed.  Cyberpunk 2077 is a RPG based on Mike Pondsmith’s pen and paper role playing games Cyberpunk 2013/2020.  Developed CD Projeckt Red, the same developer responsible for The Witcher and the sequel Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, the trailer showcases a CG cutscene set in a dystopian, futuristic city.  The Police, outfitted by high-end assault rifles and vehicles are seen firing at a cybernetically enhanced women who has seemingly massacred a group of people.  The rounds break due to high durability of her “skin.”  All of this is done in slo-mo as an officer behind her pulls a pistol trigger aimed at the back of her head.  After the title screen the scene then changes to the inside of a vehicle where the same officer looks on as the apprehended cyborg is seen putting on a device of unknown function.

Given that this is a teaser trailer, there’s little to go on until more content is revealed. We get the basic premise of the game dealing with futuristic technology and cybernetic enhancements.  The game has an atmosphere similar to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner and the Police’s attire reminded me of Judge Dredd.  The concept of enhanced humans is similar to that of the Deus Ex series, particularly Human Revolution. CD Projeckt Red says that the title won’t be released until 2015 at the earliest but more information will be revealed on February 5. Below is the teaser trailer for the game.

Project Giana Title Finalized, Release Date Announced, And A New Trailer Is Up

Previously on Project Giana news, I made a small mention about Black Forest Games letting the fans decide on the project title. Well lest week, voting ended, and the game will be called Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. They even showed off their snazzy new logo for the game as well. Along with this reveal, they announced that Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams will be released for PC on Tuesday, October 23th. The game is still vying for a Steam release through Steam Greenlight.

Moving on to the trailer, we can that some elements from Giana Sisters DS are coming back, like the bubblegum power-up and those weird, snake-y suction-cup vines. And it looks like Machinae Supremacy and Chris Huelsbeck will be providing more than just that one song heard in the initial trailer and demo. A couple of bosses and a snow level is also showcased. There’s even a swimming section in the game, which is surprising considering all water in Giana Sisters DS was instant death.

Still no word on any other platforms Giana will be launching on.

Anarchy Reigns Japanese Launch Trailer

The Japanese launch of Anarchy Reigns (Max Anarchy in Japan) is close by, so here’s a launch trailer for it. I have a feeling this trailer is going to be the same when the game is released here, considering SEGA hasn’t done much in advertising the game. I mean sure they’ve got character trailers in English (lots of ’em), but they haven’t done much pushing to other outlets to show these trailers. Anarchy Reigns is a beat ’em up that looks poised to be a very, very distant spiritual successor to Power Stone (and of course the sequel to MadWorld). You got special moves, environmental hazards and items, etc. The game’s main focus is online with many modes to be had. There’s Tag Team DeathMatch, Cage Match, Capture The Flag, Survival, Death Ball, and more. But I can definitely see a lot of people frequenting Battle Royale, a 16-player Deathmatch mode that’s bound to be chaotic. Bayonetta is also included in the game.

But for those that prefer to play alone, the game’s also got a story mode, but not much is known about what the plot will be about, nor if it’ll only follow just Jack Cayman or follow everyone. There’s still no word on local multiplayer (considering the previous game, MadWorld, had it on the Wii). Anarchy Reigns is slated for release in the U.S. on July 3rd, with Austalia and Europe getting the game July 5th and 6th respectively.
