Latest Footage of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Gives A Better Idea Of How The Music Will Be

Ah ah. don’t read anything down here yet. Just play the video and listen. Listen to that music!

Since the revelation of David Wise coming back to compose for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, together with Kenji Yamato from the first DKCR game and the Metroid Prime series, we really haven’t heard much in the form of music. While we many, including us, did play a bit of Tropical Freeze, they were in noisy venues. Not the best of places to really hear what anything has to offer in the form of music (unless the booths had headphones). But now we can hear the music better thanks to gameplay uploaded by Gamespot. First we have the savannah music, which sounds very much inspired by the likes of The Lion King.

The next, after the break, is the boss battle music.

Footage From Cancelled Mega Man X Reboot Surfaces

Some time last week, it was revealed that Armature Studios were working on a gritty reboot of Mega Man X. Armature Studios is comprised of former Retro Studios employees who left after Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Now given that pedigree alone, it’s a shame that their MMX game, codenamed “Maverick Hunter”, got the boot. I mean, these are the Metroid Prime guys. They turned a revered 2D action/adventure game into an FPS that had a good blend of action, platforming, and atmosphere — all staples of the Metroid series. Plus, like Mega Man, Samus had a pea-shooting armcannon and it stayed a pea-shooting armcannon in the transition. The game was in good hands.

Then you look images of the game they were making. And then the footage that’s leaked online. All I can say is, it’s probably a good thing that Maverick Hunter was cancelled.

It seems like everywhere you look there is another story talking about that meteor that fell over Russia. Now that everyone’s sights are set on these, it seems like meteors are dropping everywhere. From San Francisco to Florida, the figment of movie imagination and Bruce Willis is becoming a close reality. Now everyone is wondering what the we should do to prepare ourselves for meteorocalypse. Not us though! Meteors have found quite a few ways to make themselves known in videogames, and we’re going to look back on them. So get your telescopes ready and duck for cover as we look at the Top 10 Videogame Meteors!

E3 2012 Nintendo Press Conference Liveblog

Last year Nintendo revealed their next console, the Wii U, which garnered mixed reactions from many a gamer. Rumors have circulated over the specs of the console. Some developers have said that the console is just as powerful as the 360 and PS3. Other have said it even more powerful than both. Then come the leaked picture of the updated Wii U Tablet Controller. On the games side, we got Xenoblade! And we’re getting The Last Story later this month courtesy of XSEED. What of the fate of Pandora’s Tower? What will Pikmin 3 look like? Will there be a Starfox game by Platinum Games? Will there be a crossover of Starfox and Metroid by Retro Studios? All will be known today.
