Top 50 Most Wacky Bootleg Boxarts: PS1 Edition

Top 50 Wacky Boxarts

After about three months of waiting for the SyrianGames website come back, I’ve now returned with even more wacky bootleg boxart, this time from their PS1 catalog. Now, an odd thing occurred after that last article was published. After some gaming outlets posted articles about how crazy their boxarts were, SyrianGames went into a sort of Admin mode where only the site runners could access it. Afterwards, the syriangames.com URL redirected visitors to their Facebook page. This probably meant that 1) they wanted to hide their shame, and 2) they took the site offline.

So how do I have more boxarts to show? Well, for some odd reason several weeks back, their old site was back online. I found this out I checked out my old article (for kicks) and wondered if the site came back. I took the opportunity to look at their PS1 catalog and pick out the funniest ones from the bunch. Good thing I did it too since their URL is once again redirecting to their Facebook page.

Anyway, let’s end this little tangent. Hit the jump and check out the PS1 Edition of the Top 50 Wacky Bootleg Boxarts.

[NYCC 2012] The Cosplayers of New York Comic-Con 2012

One thing you can expect when going to a convention is cosplayers. Lots of ’em. There’s some good ones, and some bad ones. But at The Wired Fish, only the best get their pictures taken and shown. Like last year, this was joint effort between TWF staff members. So sit back and check out some of the awesome cosplay pics. They’ve also been named for your convenience. Uh… a little sidenote, there’s a few characters that unfortunately I don’t know the names to. So if you can help me identify them, that’d be greatly appreciate it! [Update] More photos added at the end. Also, two characters identified! All characters identified! Thanks Lewis and Val.

Night-Time Listenings Wrap-Up: Week of 10/8/12

Today was the second day of New York Comic-Con, and we wrapped of Comics Week yesterday. We kicked it off with some Maximum Carnage. Then we tagged in Captain America with Marvel vs. Capcom. We died a lot to the rockin’ tunes of Silver Surfer. We punched fools in the face with Batman on the NES. And finally, we punched more fools in the face to the tunes of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

If you want to see the music as it goes up (and not wait every Saturday for these wrap-ups), remember to go to our Tumblr page and follow it. Music for Night-Time Listenings goes up every weekday at 10PM

Art of the Week: Feature 7 – amsart81

For this week, it’s round two with  deviantART group Fighting Games Elite as we feature another artist from the group. Hailing from South Jakarta, Indonesia, amsart81 (real name Amos Rachman) has an artstyle that is both varied and detailed. His main base of operations is both on deviantART and Blogspot. His most recent works focuses on fighting games and comics. While we can’t show here due to the theme of the blog, his piece “Guardian Ninja” shows his amazing prowess with detail as you can see in the armor. amsart81 also has a background in doing caricatures, which are very entertaining to look at (and bring back memories of old TV Guide). amsart81, like blackorb00, is also a winner of another one of the contest held by Fighting Games Elite. His fanart for Street Fighter X Tekken was one of the winning entries. Right now FGE is holding another contest, this time to draw characters from fighting games in a pirate theme. So if you have the chops and can draw, head over the and get competin’!

Do remember to visit amsart81’s gallery over at deviantART and Blogspot. Catch a small sample of amsart81’s work after the break.
