One thing you can expect when going to a convention is cosplayers. Lots of ’em. There’s some good ones, and some bad ones. But at The Wired Fish, only the best get their pictures taken and shown. Like last year, this was joint effort between TWF staff members. So sit back and check out some of the awesome cosplay pics. They’ve also been named for your convenience. Uh… a little sidenote, there’s a few characters that unfortunately I don’t know the names to. So if you can help me identify them, that’d be greatly appreciate it! [Update] More photos added at the end. Also, two characters identified! All characters identified! Thanks Lewis and Val.

This Week In Confirmed News 4
We got a pot luck of items this week, from an installment from the Sonic series coming back, an obscure game inspired by a manga coming to the 3DS, an anticipated piece of DLC, and more in this mixed bag of news this week.
The Cosplayers of New York Comic-Con
It’s time to take a break from the videos and look at the other attractions that populated Comic Con. No, it wasn’t all the free schwag we got (though we’ll be making an article about that later). It’s the cosplayers, and boy were there many. With the Jacob Javits Center packed to the brim with comic fans, animation and anime fans, and gamers (and nary a jock in sight), you were bound to bump into a cosplayer or two (or, say, seven). As many of you know, cosplay is serious business, and these people were ready to display the best of what they had. We have over 70 pictures, and you can view them all after the break! Art of the Week: Feature 3 – vancamelot
This week we cover an artist that brings a smile to your face. vancamelot, real name Ivan Camelo, appeared on the scene around 2008, with his main base of operations being on deviantART. I first discovered vancamelot on the group Fighting-Game-Elite, where his artstyle caught my eye as I was clearing my message center. His style of art is very upbeat and could even be considered cute in some circles. His fanart covers properties including Marvel and DC Comics, Street Fighter, movies, and others like Gears of War as seen above. He uses simple shapes and proportions to build the images, almost like cutting construction paper. But he’s not afraid to get into detail, again, like the Gears of War image up there. Further perusing of his older artwork shows that he’s done other types of art as well, and may be tapping into elements of what he’s done then to use now. One striking image I found that I wish I could show here is one he did of Zero as a samurai. It’s amazing how he used the different patterns in the outfit he made for him.
You can catch vancamelot’s gallery over on deviantART. Hit the jump to see a sample of his work.
