DWG Fighting Tournament Livestream

Ahoy! It’s finally time for another livestream. This time it’s for Destructive World Gaming’s Fighters Club Tournament Series 2013. The games of today will be Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Will you be seeing yours truly here in some way? Who knows. Regardless sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Tournament begins at 4PM. The stream should begin at the same time.

[Note: if you’re seeing this image instead of a stream (minus the watermark and “for staff only” of course), it’s the wrong stream. Click Here to go to the right one. I have yet to figure out this is a WordPress problem or a Twitch problem.
If the right one is showing but nothing is streaming, fear not as there could be pre-recorded after the show.]

Live In The Bronx? Good At Fighting Games? Well, There’s A Tournament For That

DWG Fighters Tournament

Up and coming gaming group Destructive World Gaming is hosting a fighting game tournament in The Bronx. North Bronx to be specific. We don’t see many big tournaments here in the Bronx (they usually go to Brooklyn and Manhattan). But if you’ve faced a Bronxite before, you’ll finally get to see their worth in their home turf (and ours! …well, mostly). The names of the game is Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV A.E. (not sure if it’s the 2012 Edition though). The entrance fee is $20 and it’s Bring-Your-Own-Controller/Fight Stick (though DWG will have controllers available should you need one).

The venue of the tournament Uptown Sports Complex, located 170 W. 233rd Street (Google Map’d that for ya! Just don’t use Street View as their image is outdated). The tournament starts this Saturday, March 9th, at 4PM. Registration is open,  so if you think you have what it takes to duke it out with the best of The Bronx, sign up! If you can’t make it but still want to watch, hit up their Twitch page as they’ll be livestreaming the tournament as well. We’ll see you there!

The Wired Fish Podcast Season 2 – Episode 3

Ahoy Fellow Fishes! Another week, another podcast goes up. Actually… several weeks… for this episode anyway. But I digress. On this episode of the Podcast, we look back on what made us sad pandas in 2011. Then we talk about what we’re anticipating the most in 2012. And finally what we see as our Games of the Year for 2012. This episode is extra long, so for your convenience we’ve split this episode into two parts. After the break, Part 2 and timestamp table of contents.

Spain to Capcom: “Que Carajo Estas Haciendo Aqui!?”

Man, no one’s a fan of Capcom lately. Just when you thought Capcom couldn’t piss off Spain again, Capcom reveals that they’ll be dressing Magneto in the King of Spain’s royal clothes. Now, this probably isn’t all Capcom’s fault. Magneto wearing the outfit in question is actually a throwback to the comic House of M in which Magneto is seen wearing said outfit. The Spanish Royal Family had issue with the depiction of their King’s garb and sued Marvel. They’ve settled this a long time ago. Guess no one gave Capcom the memo to not open those old wounds, as now Spain is going down on Capcom for using the outfit as DLC for Magneto and is threatening legal action. It’s currently available on PSN and XBL, so get it while it’s hot!

Capcom May Have Pissed Off The King of Spain [Complex]

Here comes a new challenger!

After a little more than a week, a few thousand matches, and a hand cramp or two, I think a review of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (Umvc3) is in order. I am very impressed with the overall rebalancing of the game. It seems Capcom really took the time to research problems within the original and tried their best to not make the same mistakes. For example, the DHC glitch is now removed from the game and I couldn’t be happier. Continue reading

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Phoenix Wright Trailer

For real this time. For a while I was wondering if Phoenix was really going to throw some punches and kicks. Turns out, he’s not quite doing much of that. Instead, he’s whipping out paper, throwing what looks like laser pens, calling out his assistant to do the Luigi Punches. I’m really diggin’ his level 1 Super though, calling out the Judge like a god! So far his fighting style is very different than the other fighters. He also has some icons over his super meter. Evidence perhaps? Hachi is definitely gonna love this!

Leaked Screenshots of Nova & Phoenix

Every now and then, a company leaks out information pertaining to a game that has not been released. In this case, Microsoft under the Xbox Live marketplace has unveiled screenshots of two characters that Capcom has not shown any information about in their new game Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Both Phoenix Wright and Nova’s in-game images have been leaked out.

Looks like Nova is learning a thing or two from "Iron Man"????

Look at that smile from Phoenix Wright

From the looks of everything, Nova is shaping to be an interesting character especially in the versus games. Although, I cannot say too much on Phoenix Wright considering he only appears in the team order right above the health bar, Phoenix Wright still has his million dollar smile. More information will be introduced in upcoming weeks around the time of New York Comic Con. Stay tuned.

Is Capcom, and The Game Industry, Backing Itself Into a Catch 22 Situation?

Super Version. Hyper Turbo. Ultimate. Game of the Year Edition. In the gaming community, these are identifiers of a game that has been updated. Super, back then, was really just something that was getting released on Super Nintendo. But now, Super is synonymous with an update that was unexpected after promises were made beforehand.  You can probably see which game I’m indirectly referencing and probably understand where I’m coming from. Before the situation we’re facing now in the gaming industry, Capcom led the charge in making updates to their games. However, back then they had good reason to.
