Child of Eden Gets Release Date

Upon seeing the trailer to this game last year, my eyes have been begging for more stuff about this game. And now, we finally have a release date. Q? Entertainment’s Tetsuya Mizuguchi has confirmed that the game will come out June 14. As the article from Destructoid points out, it’s only the 360 version. The PS3 version will come out at a later date.

To those not familiar, well, get familiar with it! It seems like the basic gist of it is that it’sa on-rails shooter akin to Sin & Punishment (almost). Seeing from the initial trailer, you use the Kinect (or PS Move) to take aim and fire as on-screen enemies. The story of the game involves Lumi, the character you see portrayed in the videos for Genki Rockets.

Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove Moved to 3DS

Natsume’s handheld rhythm game, Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove, has been moved to the 3DS. Originally planned for the DS, this game boasts a gameplay style similar to Elite Beat Agents. The only major change to this game, besides the potential benefit of having increased resolution, is that the gameplay is on the lower screen and the dancing is on the upper. To get a better idea of what this game is about, check out this video from E3 (when it was still planned for the DS)

Japan Hit By Major Earthquake and Tsunami

I was just play some Persona 4, and suddenly I hear in the other room my pops calling to tell us that Japan has gotten hit by a 8.9 Earthquake. You heard right. 8.9! And, as I’m writing this, the tsunami is already hitting the shoreline. It’s a terrifying sight, as there are actually flames being carried amongst the other objects being carried by the waves. Much of what’s being submerged right now looks like farmland. The center of the quake hit 231 miles away from Tokyo.

Certainly many within the anime and videogame community are concerned. I’m most certainly concerned as well. It may seem odd to mention this. But with many within our circle, when one thinks Japan, you can’t help but think about anime and videogames. Regardless, this is a dark day for Japan.

But without a doubt, no matter who you are, we are all feeling for Japan right now. We at TWF send out thoughts and prayers to the people of Japan affected by the earthquake and the tsunami.

Dissidia 012 Duodecim Gets US Trailer

It’s about time! I got a chance to play the Japanese demo of Dissidia 012 on a friend’s PSP. Everything seems to play the same, aside from the assist characters, which I didn’t know how to summon. Everyone from the previous game is coming back. Joining them is Kain from FFIV, Tifa from FFVII, Laguna from FFVIII, Yuna from FFIX, Yuna from FFX, Prishe from FFXI, Vaan from FFXII, and Lightning from FFXIII. Duodecim Prologus comes out on PSN onMarch 15 (same day as Okamiden ^w^). It’ll come with Aerith as an assist that can be carried over to the main game.

See Jill And Shuma Gorath in Action

Capcom has just released a pair of trailers for the two DLC characters that will be available for MVC3, Jill and Shuma Gorath. This isn’t the first time that Jill’s been beating the crap out of the Marvel characters, as she made her debut in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, together with Zombies, dogs, and crows (and even Tyrant). But she’ll be shedding all that extra baggage for more acrobatics, taking after her appearance in Resident Evil 5. I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce her S.T.A.R.S. uniform (or RE3 outfit) as an alternate costume for her.

And there’s Shuma Gorath. I don’t know much about him, other than that he’s from the Dr. Strange comics and that I’ve never read those.

Both Shuma and Jill will each cost $5. If you bought the limited edition, they’re free.

Get Your Persona 2 Wallpapers

While there’s no news of the PSP version of Persona 2: Innocent Sin coming to the US (yet), we can get a hold of some Persona 2 wallpapers in the mean time. There’s only one right now (it’s the above image), but there is more soon to come.

To those wondering about what this iteration of P2:Innocent Sin is, it’s basically a remake of the entry that appeared back on the PS1. There’s actually two Persona 2 games: Eternal Punishment and Innocent Sin. What we originally got was Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, which is more or less a parallel dimension story. In other words, it’s an alternate retelling of the overarching Persona 2 story. What the PSP is getting is Innocent Sin, the original story of Persona 2. I don’t know much about the story per se, being another one of those people that got into Persona through P3P and P4, but the story sounds good and I’ll be anticipating this entry. To the purists out there, there is an option to switch between the original’s soundtrack and the new one. Here’s the intro scene to give you an idea on what to expect from the new Persona 2.

Catherine Coming to the US

Atlus are such terrible liars. After saying that they had no planes to release the game in the US, a little cryptic message popped up asking gamers, “Do you still like us?” If that pink background was any indication, then they really suck on the subtlety front. Currently Catherine is planned to be released this Summer (Though Gamestop seems to know when exactly). I did try out the Catherine demo, and it’s a quirky little game, and freaking difficult! But that’s okay, this is Atlus we’re talking about.

Atlus released a trailer for our viewing not too long ago. You can see it below.

Do I Like The IDOLM@STER?

So, why is The King of Cosmos up there as my article image? Well, like any (loosely) sane minded individual, most of us have heard of Katamari Damacy. Some of us even played the game. So what does this have to do with The IDOLM@STER? Some of you probably already know where this is going. But I’ll continue on in hopes of humoring the public. Hit the jump to see the realization

Retro Gaming Weekends – The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Part 2)

And now we’re back to out discussion of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Last time we talked about some memorable moments that occurred in the game. Now it’s time to talk music. The Legend of Zelda had a soundtrack that resonated with many withing the Zelda community, and its tunes have lived on in later Zelda games. Here are 5 themes that I remember to this day from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Retro Gaming Weekends – The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

I faintly remember playing the original Zelda game on the NES and not knowing what the hell to do. Being a kid that was impatient, I just wanted the game to tell me where the hell to go next. Unfortunately, I was forced to just wing it and see where else I could go next. I didn’t know how to save… So I always started from the very beginning no matter how far I got. The game was either rented or borrowed, so I never really owned the game (until last year when I got my mom the original Zelda game since she’s a big fan of the old Zelda games). So in comes my ownership of the SNES. And this is where our next Retro Gaming Weekend starts. All in commemoration of Zelda’s 25th Anniversary.

NightTime Listening – Mizca

Normally, I would be in the camp that would hate this kinda of music. But, last semester, I began to grow find of it to the point that I actually added them to my playlists. The one to start them all is Mizca (real name Masami Mitsuoka). Now I would talk a bit about her history, but you can look that up on your own. Besides looking pretty damn hot, she can sing pretty damn fast! Is it Hoover’s Ooover fast? Eh, maybe since there might be some voice-synthesizing to make her sound like she’s singing fast (outside of changing her voice to sound like a vocaloid). Anyways, hit the jump to hear some music.

NighTime Listening – EE Jump

I find it kinda ironic that I kept saying to myself, “This is my last year in college. I’m gonna try and spend as much time as I can with my clubroom peoples,” Only to really be in the clubrooms for just 3 days out of the week (instead of the usual 4 from other semesters). Why only 3 days? Because my schedule has me going to campus on all days but Thursday and Sunday. If I did start coming in on Thursdays, I’d have a Japanese-style schedule (only Sundays are free). Speaking of which, here’s another group from Japan called EE Jump. The type of music they do is rather uplifting and upbeat. It’s great for those days that just simply suck. Plus, it’s gonna rain tonight (well, in New York anyway), so some some happy music for ya!

Have some Cheep Cheep with your Kanagawa

A quick sifting through Kotaku’s “Talk Amongst Yourselves” brought me back to this pic that I saw in the beginning of the month, and thus reminded of how awesome this is. Made by Kotakuite “pixelmatic,” he blends Hokusai’s “The Great Wave of Kanegawa” with the Cheep Cheeps (and that big bastard that would eat you) from Super Mario Bros. 3. Another user, Realityflaw, made a hi-res version for your wallpapering pleasure (just be ready for the pop-ups that Mediafire is littered with).

NightTime Listening – A Cruel Twist

A Cruel Twist – Bullet Through the Telephone

Here’s a band that I had the pleasure of working with last Friday. For those that don’t know, I’m currently interning at BronxNet, taking on various positions on the Open show. For a while, I was the Floor Manager. Things can be pretty hectic as floor manager, and last Friday was no exception. To put it simply, these guys were awesome, and a welcome change of pace for the Open show to add a rock band to the mix for music (we usually get hip-hop artists). And so for tonight, we’ll be detailing New York rock band, A Cruel Twist. Hit the jump for awesomeness!
