Update Added To Dragon’s Crown, Lifts Level Cap To 255, Adds New Dungeon

Amazon definitely lifts

Shit just got real with Dragon’s Crown. A new update has been released for Dragon’s Crown, and this is a pretty significant update. First the Level Cap. Originally, the level cap was 99 on Infernal Mode. Now players can play the game in Ultimate Mode, which lifts the level cap to 255. On top of this, a new dungeon called the Tower of Mirages has been added. It’s a dungeon of randomly generated rooms and has, I’m not kidding, tens of thousands of levels. Looks like my Amazon Twerka’s gonna have a lot more twerkin’ to do before I declare her adventure complete (I just started on Infernal Mode). Ultimate Mode becomes available only if you beat the 9th floor of the Labyrinth of Chaos.

On top of this comes a few more gameplay improvements. Now when you attack enemies, you can see a damage total instead a bunch of numbers popping up. If you have a save file with the story complete, you can now play as other characters and skip straight to the Talisman quest. Also, if you completed quest as your main character, you don’t have to do the guild quests again as the others (so now I can rock the Sorceress without dreading doing those quests over, like the solo challenges…). And finally, if you’re still having trouble seeing your characters in the midst of all the chaos, you can now toggle character transparency for when they overlap.

So get out there and get crackin’ on that new level cap. And remember, this update is free.

Camera Spazzing Out In Senran Kagura Burst? Here’s A Quick Fix

Senran camera shake.jpg

So if you’re like me, you’re balls-deep into Senran Kagura Burst. You played some missions, unlocked some sexy outfits, and picked out a favorite shinobi (mine’s Haruka if you’re wondering). However at some point during your bedazzlingly bodacious adventure, the camera can’t quite seem to get its act together. In other words, the camera just ping-pongs back and fourth. At first it’s a nuisance, but it gradually gets worse. For me, I was playing as Haruka (of course), and for some reason the camera started acting up. Since Haruka runs really slow, I thought it was probably her run speed that made the camera not know how to track her. This turned out to not be the case since I later played as Hikage, who’s much faster, and the camera was still glitching out, and this time it was much worse. When facing enemies, the camera’s all fine. But when moving on to the next wave, it begins to spaz out, only to correct itself when the next wave begins. Lather rinse repeat.

Persona Event Round-up: Persona 5 Revealed (Among Others)

Persona 5

At 6AM EST, the Persona event was livestreamed and kicked off with who I think was the voice actress for Teddie (well… she sounded like Teddie). After a brief introduction by her, Teddie himself showed up and began talking a bit about the series, or at least the bits and pieces I can understand since it was in Japanese. Then the games came, and there sure was a lot of Persona. Hit the jump and let’s take a look.

Clicking the Boxes on p-ch.jp Site Now Flashes Teddie

p-ch update

And so the plot thickens. Previously on the p-ch.jp website, the site barely told us anything, and only alluded to it being Persona related when checking the html sheet under page source. With 5 days left to go before the date shown, the site has been updated with Persona 4′s beary own Teddie (I had to do it). Clicking on the boxes each reveals a different facial expression of Teddie. It you get each box to show the same expression, each box will shake and randomly show a different expression. Before this update, these boxes showed nothing and only vibrated.

What about the cities at the bottom? Well nothing’s changed down there, and they all still vibrate. but Teddie’s addition to the site brings this even closer to definitely being Persona related, specifically Persona 4. But is this truly about just Persona 4? This is Atlus we’re talking about, and they like to fake people out sometimes.

5 Days left. What will come next to this site as Sunday nears?

Senran Kagura Burst Launching on eShop November 14, Official Site Open With Awesome Music

Senran Kagura Burst (3)

After many teases by XSEED of a pending fall release, they’ve finally confirmed that Senran Kagura Burst will finally come out on the 3DS exclusively on Nintendo eShop on November 14th. The story follows the girls of both the Hanzo National Academy and the Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. Both factions are shinobi academies, and both follow different ideologies of what a shinobi should stand for. On the Hanzo side, they feel that the shinobi should fight for the good of the people and strike down evil. On the Hebijo side, they’ll take on any jobs regardless of whose side you’re on as long as you pay good money, even if the job could be perceived as working for evil. Of course when both sides meet, sparks fly while clothing shreds. It’s safe to say that the girls of these academies don’t get along.

Is p-ch.jp Persona Related, Or Is There Something More To It?

p-ch (2)

Destructoid‘s Dale North recently reported on an “accidental slip” that a redditor picked up on regarding p-ch.jp. For a while now this site’s been suspected of being related to Persona. The image in question on Destructoid reveals that the website is for the release of Persona 5. So some are psyched up while others are suspicious as to what this site is for. However many are pointing out that the image is a fake. Since then the site has reverted back to the above image — or maybe it’s been like this the whole time since the image from reddit has been deemed fake. Regardless, let’s go ahead and analyze what this site is about anyway.

Japan Is Finally Getting Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Adcance Wars Days of Ruin Japan

In an unexpected turn of events, the once cancelled Japanese version of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is finally getting released in Japan, but with a twist. Instead of releasing it at retail, it is a Platinum reward for Japanese Club Nintendo members. This is one of the few instances of a game made in Japan not releasing in its country of origin (which brings to mind this game I talked about a ways back). We’ll talk about this a sec, first some backstory. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin was the second game in the Advance Wars series for the DS (fourth overall for the U.S.) and went for a more darker theme than the previous entries in the series. The story sees the world in shambles after a meteor shower, and the armies of the world react with either righteousness, cowardice, or aggression towards their fellow man. At the same time, a flora/fauna-sprouting virus known as the Creeper is spreading across the land, and for some reason it only infects young people. Along with the darker story, the game’s also got some kickass music that I’ve covered quite a few times.

Now then, the release of Days of Ruin in Japan for the 3DS brings a couple of milestones with it. One is that this is the first retail DS game released for Nintendo eShop on the 3DS. While it’s still only for Club Nintendo members, this could open the doors for more DS games getting released for the service. The other is that, for Nintendo, this is technically the first essentially cancelled game to get released in Japan. While another Nintendo game, ExciteBots: Trick Racing, was simply not announced for Japan when it first came out, Days of Ruin was supposed to come out in the region. The game was constantly delayed until it was eventually cancelled. With this game finally getting released, who knows what other cancelled games Nintendo might revive for a comeback.

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill Out Now on PC

The Typing of the Dead Overkill

It’s time to brush up of you fucking typing skills, ’cause SEGA just released The Typing of the Dead: Overkill. Presumably the same game as The House of the Dead: Overkill on Wii and Ps3, the story follows Agent G. and Detective Washington as they unravel the mystery of where this zombie outbreak started. It’s been over 10 years since the original Typing of the Dead was released, with the most recent version releasing on PC back in 2003. Much like the original Typing of the Dead, instead of aiming a gun (or controller) at the screen, you must instead type out what is shown on the screen to kill each enemy. You can see more of how the original game is played by clicking here.

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill is currently available for PC.

[NYCC 2013] Hands-on with Dustforce

To the corner of the Capcom booth was a demo of Dustforce playing. Intrigued by what he was seeing, Steve tries his hand at this indie platformer. He only had very little knowledge of the game, posting a single song from it on Night-Time Listenings. How did Steve like Dustforce? Click play and find out!

[NYCC 2013] Hands-on with Super Mario 3D World

A new 3D Mario platformer is upon us, and this time it’s taking after the 3DS outing. Super Mario 3D World expands on the foundation of the previous 3D Land game and adds two more characters in the fray, Peach and Toad. Mario is your standard character. Luigi can jump higher than his brother (with the trade-off being low traction). Peach can float for across the air a la Super Mario Bros. 2. And Toad can run faster that any other character. Gameplay can be done on both the TV and on the Gamepad’s screen.

[NYCC 2013] Hands-on with Strider

It’s been over a decade since the last Strider game came out on the PS1 (and Arcades). Since then Strider Hiryu stuck to the shadows, showing up here and there in the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting games. But now Strider’s back in an all new game. Now he’s got more moves at his disposal, and the stages, at least this one, are much longer than its predecessor. And as you’ll see in near the end of the demo, the Ouroboros from Strider 2 also makes a return, and this time puts up a better fight than it did in the previous game.

[NYCC 2013] Hands-on with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

The Zelda series returns to its roots once again with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Taking place after a Link to the Past on the SNES, Link returns to Hyrule to vanquish the evil that lurks these lands. This time, he’s able to merge with the wall, turning corners to traverse once unreachable areas, and even scale the outside of a castle’s walls. While not available in this demo, A Link Between Worlds also allows players to rent out items from Ravio’s shop and to tackle any dungeon in any order.

[NYCC 2012] Hands-on with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

NYCC has come and gone, and we have some gameplay to show you. First up is the next chapter of the Donkey Kong Country Returns saga, Tropical Freeze. The Tikis are toast, but a new set of baddies has arrived and kicked DK out of his home. This time around The camera plays a bigger role, swerving around our heroes as they’re transported to the next section of a stage and not staying strictly 2D.

Gamepad control was not ready for this demo, so Wiimote+Nunchuk was the controller of choice. It played just like DKCR in this regard. Hit the jump to see some mine cart gameplay.
