Last Minute Guild Wars 2 Screenshots!

Not wearing armor? Do you SEE these six-packs?

I’m sure your presence must lack purpose, to be here must have been a mistake. I mean, reading this article puts you smack dab in the middle of PaJamieez country. Did the sign not radiate with the light of a supernova, begging for warning’s acknowledgement? Turn back now, as the usual journalistic sovereignty you’ve grown accustomed to has been put away… temporarily. Left behind are fragments of sanity, and the boiled down essence of obsession. These are my Guild Wars 2 screenshots.

Viewer discretion is advised.

New York Videogame Critics’ Circle: Inspiration, Drinks, and a Damned Good Time

On July 31st, Barcade Brooklyn housed an event for the New York Videogame Critics’ Circle hosted by Harold Goldberg, author of All Your Base Are Belong to Us and owner of nygamecritics.com. Some of the industry’s most influential writers came out that evening to meet readers, play some classic arcade games, and sample the latest rotation of Barcade’s extensive brew selection. The most memorable moment of the night aside from trading awkward glances with Giantbomb‘s Alex Navarro, was probably piggy backing on a drink order with Michael McWhertor while trying to keep my fan boy from showing. Resident Evil 6: Ada Wong scenarios plus more!

As an avid Resident Evil fan, the months spent waiting for Resident Evil 6 have been excruciatingly long. However with the release of extra trailers, character profiles, game play footage and not to mention various conferences, Capcom has given us fans something to tide us over while we wait.

Game play footage released today from the Japanese Biohazard Youtube Channel, shows Ada Wong navigating through a cemetery, while skeleton-like zombies chase after her. The footage also shows Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy cross-overs. Much has been made about the cross over feature of Resident Evil 6 and seeing Ada Wong being thrown in to the mix is rather exciting to say the least.  According to Official PlayStation Magazine UK, the Ada scenario will a single player experience and is unlocked when all 3 main campaigns are completed. This definitely brings back fond memories of Ada’s Separate Ways mission from Resident Evil 4.

While I am excited with the video released today, is too much being spoiled? I can only hope that the developers do not mind showing this much now, because there are other amazing things to be had once Resident Evil 6 is released on October 2nd, 2012.

After the jump, be sure to check out the video for Agent Hunt Mode which is a competitive online mode!

HP Compares: Taco Bell’s Cantina Bowl vs. Chipotle’s Burrito Bowl

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but sometimes, it’s not always the case.  At times, the clone is seen as an inferior product to the source material, lacking in various areas that makes the original a fantastic product.  I recently ventured to a local Taco Bell on my lunch break and saw they were advertising their brand new products, the Cantina Bowl and Cantina Burrito.  I had previously seen commercials and various adverts touting these new items, and at first glance, they looked strangely familiar to something else I had eaten before.  If you already know where I’m going with this, these new Cantina products are meant to be a blatant knockoff of rival company, Chipotle.  But I tend to be a sucker for new products, so I figured I’d give the Cantina Bowl a try.  Going back to my office with an empty stomach and an open mind, I anticipated chowing down on something similar to a product from a restaurant that is not within a reasonable driving distance from both my home and office.

As I ate my Cantina Bowl, my optimism slowly downshifted to a bittersweet feeling after each bite.  As I sat there chewing, I contemplated the comparisons between the original product to what I was consuming.  I thought about things like quality and presentation, taste and overall value of the products.

Google Fiber: Doing So Much Good, It’s Practically Evil.

Is it me, or is Google quickly becoming a caricature of those large mega corporations we see in old school cyber punk movies? Those hands just keep dipping into ALL the honey pots! Though, I find it hard not to like them; Google takes their “don’t be evil” motto seriously by using open source software, offering free programs and services, and contributing to dozens of charitable causes. I’d characterize their efforts as downright noble if it weren’t for the fact that they need to turn a profit to satisfy stock market investors every quarter. It seems like Google has taken another leap into that grey territory of philanthropy and profit with Google Fiber. What is Google Fiber? Well, it’s not the next health bar, but it’ll probably send your local internet provider into a panicked frenzy.

In a twitter post, Samurai Warriors (Sengoku Musou) producer Hisashi Koinuma announced that Samurai Warriors 4 is indeed in development…and that it will apparently be coming out around the second coming of Christ.

“And yea, the Lord said, “Let Tadakatsu Honda be built up as the best character, even though Keiji Maeda clearly has the better moveset”, amen…”

The Future of a Genre: Guild Wars 2 Beta Impressions

It was a love that could never beThe final beta weekend event that took place on July 20th through July 22nd, gave pre-order customers and a few lucky beta key holders, access to a near-release build of the upcoming ArenaNet MMORPG, Guild Wars 2. Players were able to adjust those facial sliders and back story options one last time before the final release on August 28th. As a pre-order customer, I decided to give the game a shot for an opportunity to do a write up for the readers who can’t seem to find impressions on this new breed of online role playing game.

Ringside Rants Vol. I – WWE Raw 1,000

Hello, and welcome to my new segment, Ringside Rants, your source for professional wrestling news and reviews.  I’m new to this so just bear with me.  Big shouts to James a.k.a. suikoinfinity and the folks at The Wired Fish for allowing me to come on board!

For my very first wrestling blog, I decided to review the landmark 1,000th episode of WWE Monday Night RAW.  So without any further pomp and circumstance, let’s get this bad boy going!

– We get a new signature, and new entrance video.  “Tonight Is The Night” by Outasight.

  • Thank you WWE for deciding to stop using Nickelback.

– New stage setup, it’s almost pay-per-view quality.

  • Also new logos and graphics
    • New lower-thirds (the nameplate on the bottom of the screen)

– Vince McMahon introduces Degeneration X – Shawn Michaels and Triple H

  • They bring out the other members of DX – Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, X-Pac
  • Typical DX self-introduction.
  • Get interrupted by Damien Sandow.  Who then eats Sweet Chin Music and Pedigree.

– This whole thing takes up about 20 minutes.

– Jim Ross is out on commentary…and he looks like the Big Boss Man.

– Match #1 – Six-man tag team match – Rey Mysterio,World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Sin Cara vs. Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio.

  • Everyone gets involved, too much stuff goes on at once.
  • Ziggler aces Jericho.
  • Jericho eats Brogue Kick from Sheamus.
  • Winners – Sheamus, Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio.
  • My Score 2/5.

– Apparently Jim Ross is only calling one match…LAME.

– Charlie Sheen on Skype…was he not allowed in the arena or something?

– AJ backstage with Layla.  They discuss wedding plans and how WWE is crazy…”Hacksaw” Jim Duggan appears, followed by R-Truth and Rowdy Roddy Piper…and Mae Young’s hand-child thing who’s all grown up.

– WWE whores themselves on another media platform…this week’s victim is Shazam.

  • My money is still on them whoring themselves out to Instagram…but they have Tout.

– Jack Swagger gets the jobber entrance…and he’s looking more like Gary Busey.

– Brodus Clay in a really gnarly looking American Flag old lady bathing suit along with Dude Love.

Then we jammed to the music of Sonic The Hedgehog 3. We played hard with Killer Instinct 2/Gold. We prowled the urban jungle in Street Fighter III. And finally, we rocked out to Maximum Carnage.

If you want to see the music as it goes up (and not wait every Saturday for these wrap-ups), remember to go to our Tumblr page and follow it. Music for Night-Time Listenings goes up every weekday at 10PM

Characters Confirmed So Far For Project X Zone

It’s a little tough keeping up with some of the news for Project X Zone since it pops up randomly at times. I’ve missed out on certain character reveals due to working on other parts of the site. But to make up for it, I’ll be recapping all the characters revealed so far for Project X Zone. It might be a little tough to remember who’s in the game, which company they represent, and what game they originally came from. So you can use this article to reference some basic info on each character. Remember that this is not the final character roster and is certain to grow as time move along. And there might not be anymore characters revealed until after the game is played.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Early Gameplay Preview

Normally I don’t pay interest to fighting games but a new title caught my eye, most notably due to my hype for the upcoming Batman film.  Recent footage has been revealed of Injustice: Gods Among Us, a new fighting game announced in May 2012.  Developed and published by NetherRealm Studios and WB Games, the former which developed Mortal Kombat 9.  The game takes place in the DC comic universe involving both heroes and villains such as Superman and Solomon Grundy respectively. The developer’s walkthroughs (included below) I will be referencing showcases fights between Superman Vs The Flash and Batman Vs. Solomon Grundy.

New Resident Evil: Damnation Trailer

A new trailer was revealed at the San-Diego Comic Con recently that showed more footage for the new film Resident Evil Damnation.  This film is the 3D CGI sequel to Resident Evil: Degeneration and again features Leon S. Kennedy as the protagonist.   There’s no sign of Claire Redfield but Ada Wong and an anonymous male character have been revealed in the trailer.  The film takes place just before Resident Evil 6, dealing with a BOW (bio-organic weapon) attack in Europe.  The film will premiere in Japan on October 27, 2012.

The Walking Dead First-Person Shooter Announced

A debut trailer for a first person shooter based AMC’s popular series The Walking Dead was released recently.  The Walking Dead Video Game is not to be confused with Telltale Games’s episodic action/adventure game, The Walking Dead.  Although there was no gameplay footage it set the basic premise for the game.  Developed and published by Terminal Reality and Activision respectively, the game puts you in the role of Daryl Dixon, the crossbow wielding survivalist and his Neo-Nazi brother, Merle.  The shooter is a prequel, taking place before both brothers meet up with different parts of the main group in Atlanta, Georgia.

Resident Evil 6 Demo Impressions (Leon S. Kennedy)

Leon S. Kennedy returns in Resident Evil 6 with a new metrosexual jacket!

Two month early access was granted to Xbox 360 Dragon’s Dogma owners for the official Resident Evil 6 demo on July 3.  The full demo pre-installed on the Dragon’s Dogma disc includes campaigns for Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jake Muller.  Each of the characters’ campaigns are fairly unique. Chris is heavily action oriented with his use of heavy weapons much like Resident Evil 5.  Jake is a mix of action and survival with his physical prowess. The focus of this review however, is the return of Leon S. Kennedy and the survival horror theme reminiscent of “old school” Resident Evil titles.

The Blue Blur And The Blue Bomber Are Doing A Crossover In Comic Book Form

Archie Comics has revealed that they’ll be doing a 12-comic crossover between Sonic The Hedgehog and Megaman. Kaminski was approached with the concept last year just before New York Comic Con, to which he contacted the two series’ writer Ian Flynn. “His response was, ‘I have been writing that story since we began the Mega Man title,’ ” Kaminski says. “Of course, I thought he was joking, but not an hour later my inbox was flooded with Sonic/Mega Man story synopses.”

I’ve only read just a handful of Mega Man comics, and I got them at New York Comic Con for very dirt cheap. I always wondered about the Megaman series as told by Archie comics, and I came away very impressed with the art and writing. And this crossover isn’t as weird as some would think. Both universes have evil scientists, both create robots to do their bidding, and both have blue heroes that kick their asses. Oh yeah, this’ll definitely be on my radar to look for.

The Sonic/Mega Man 12-part crossover is scheduled for release in 2013.

Now if only we can get something like this going in Project X Zone
