Here’s some Catherine Screenshots For Ya

Catherine’s got some new screenshots up for the US version of the game. While we’re at it, I’ll be posting some older screenshots as well. From the details so far regarding this game, Vincent (the guy with the afro) has a girlfriend, Katherine, that wants to get married. He thinks about it, but he never gives a straight answer, and it’s annoying her. Another girl, Catherine, comes into the picture, and all of a sudden Vincent is freaking out. Not only does he seem to have the hots for this new, younger girl, he’s also been getting nightmares ever since he met her.

As erotic as the game may look, it’s tackles some serious issues regarding love and marriage. Considering the divorce rate in the US, this could be quite a game to play. And a good topic to tackle too since marriage is something that is either great (from a woman’s perspective) or hell (from a man’s perspective). Anyways I’m rambling on. Hit the jump for the screenshots.

BIT.TRIP SAGA Coming to 3DS

That’s all six games, Beat, Core, Void, Runner, Fate, and Flux, coming to the 3DS, in one cartridge. Aksys Games has also stated that the game will also have Stereoscopic 3D. No word yet on how some of the games will function (Some are no-brainers, others like Flux make me wonder). So for those who always wanted to play the games but didn’t have a chance (or you’re too rightfully scared to buy them off WiiWare), now you can play all six games on the go. Aksys has no release date yet, but I’m guessing we’ll be getting it this year.

Also, now I get the meaning of that 3D Commander Video picture that circulated the interwebs sometime ago.

Now Even You Can Look Like Souji Seta (Or Is It Yu Narukami? Pah!)

Thanks to Persona 4, wearing glasses is cool again. Cospa is make a pair of these glasses, worn by the main character in Persona 4. The cool thing about these is that it’s not just for show; These can also be worn with prescription lenses, so the ocularly-challenged can wear these too. They do cost roughly $89 dollars, and since this is coming from Japan, I doubt they’ll be taking most health insurances (including Medicaid….dammit!). But screw it man, these glasses look freaking awesome! Hopefully they’ll be selling these in the Fall. You can order these at the AmiAmi website. I also recommend reading comment from user Unbeknownst2U from Destructoid on which frames are right for you.

Final Fantasy Type-0 Website Up, Music Kicks Ass

Square Enix has launched the website for Final Fantasy Type-0. To complement it, it’s got some kickass music to go along with it. Unfortunately, the other two at the bottom right are blacked out and not up yet. Bummer too, cause this music seems to indicate that some serious shit is about to go down in this game. And you know what, I believe it, what with the gratuitous amounts of blood I’ve seen in the trailers recently. Now, the thought of blood in a game is nothing new. But for a Final Fantasy game, it’s pretty rare, with one of the few instance I recount occurring in Final Fantasy VIII (how do you think Squall got that scar?). I’ve also seen blood in one of the earlier Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailers, but for some reason, it looks to have been toned down from the more recent trailers.

Anyways, I’m getting ahead of myself here. Final Fantasy Type-0 was under the name Final Fantasy Agito XIII since its debut. It was part of the universe of Fabula Nova Crystallis. Last fall, the name of this entry was changed to Type-0 after someone in the dev team (Not sure who) saw that the game deviated a bit too far from the original intent of the game (and the overarching story/world structure of FNC). Although the name change has distanced itself from the other two games in the world, it is still part of the same universe.

Final Fantasy Type-0 is slated to release on the PSP this Summer in Japan.

Team Ico Just Delayed Everything

And I mean everything. The Team Ico Collection (which has Ico and Shadow of the Colossus) and The Last Guardian have all been delayed. *sigh* My Ps2 is aging pretty badly, and it won’t be long before it bites the dust and stops working (it’s a 2002 PS2). I’ve never owned Ico nor Shadow of the Colossus (I do have the demo of Ico though). How much more longer do I have to wait for these two game to get released on the PS3? Till my PS2 dies? *hardsigh*

Fumito Ueda, director of The Last Guardian, stated in a letter to fans, “All the members of my production team are working together at a fast pace to develop and release the game in First Party Studio quality.” He goes on to apologize and states that he’ll announce new dates soon.*hardersigh*

Skullgirls Dev Nets Themselves One Hell Of A Composer

Michiru Yamane. Not many may know that name. But if you played any Castlevania game after Symphony of the Night, then you know her music. Reverge Labs, developer of the all-girl fighting game Skullgirls, has revealed that Yamane will be the composer for the game. In the announcement video, she was told to make the music jazzy. She also mentioned that this is her first time working for an American company, and that she “always wanted to write my own jazz.” She says that she will be making music that complements the hybrid anime/comic style and the mood of the game. You can see the video here. Skullgirls is set for release this Summer.

Gamestop, You Bastards Made Me Real Mad Today!

My day began in a sleepy stupor, being asked by my sister to accompany her to the Gateway Center Mall in The Bronx. At first I refused since I was tired. But when I became fully awake, I decided to go with her. So I’m thinking that maybe I should try to see if the Gamestop there would probably have Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. I’ve been searching quite a bit for that game. Yeah, I could get it online, but I still don’t have the means to buy stuff online (and by “means” I mean a method of instant payment via debit or PayPal). So I go to the Gamestop and look around. From the looks of things, the small Gamestop has an even smaller PS2 section, and nary an old used game in sight. While passing by the Wii section for the hell of it, I see the case for Sin & Punishment: Star Successor on the shelf. The price: $19.99! I’m like “Whuh! Shit, if they don’t have DDS, I’ll go ahead and get Sin & Punishment.” So, after waiting for some hood lookin’ chick to finally sell all her games, I as the clerk if they have Digital Devil Saga. Since it’s a pretty old PS2 game, I told her exactly that. She looks in the drawer of used PS2 games. “No, we don’t have it.”

The Breakdown – Okamiden

Hello Fellow Fishes. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s time I bring back The Breakdown. Before starting The Wired Fish, I used to do reviews of games on DeviantART. My last review was The Conduit, which I reviewed July 27, 2009. At the time it was my only platform to do any form of blogging. But now, things have changed, and I have more tools at my disposal for writing something with a bit more pizazz. One thing that I stand by still is my review format. I detailed at one point how it works on dA, so go ahead and read it to get an idea of how The Breakdown works. To put simply, there is no overall score, only individual ones. And it is impossible for a section to get a perfect 10.

Anyways, onto the show at hand: Okamiden. This sequel to Okami’s been a long time coming. First appearing on the PS2, and then The Wii (complete with IGN’s Stamp of Approval), Okami was an amazing experience that I would never forget. Unfortunately, the game didn’t really sell well. It did garner a cult following though. What made matters worse for the possibility for a sequel to Okami is that 1) Clover Studios shut down, only to independently reopen as Platinum Studios. and 2) ReadyAtDawn, the guys that handled the conversion of the game from PS2 to Wii, went back to work to make another God of War game for the PSP. So things looked pretty grim for Okami fans. Then one day, Capcom revealed that Okamiden was being made, and it was for the DS. I, unlike many, welcomed the fact that it was a DS game, as now there is some tactile feedback with the celestial brush techniques (I’ll be getting to that later). So, Was all that worry for an Okami sequel worth it? Or did Chibiterasu piss on all of our hopes. Hit the jump to read the full review. Continue reading

Oh? Well, fresh of Xenoblade getting localized and set for release in Europe, Nintendo of America register the domain for Mistwalker’s The Last Story. When going to www.thelaststory.com, the URL redirects you to Nintendo’s site.

for those not in the know, The Last Story is made by Hironobu Sakaguchi and his company, Mistwalker. His company made Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey for the Xbox 360. Cry On was 360 bound, but canceled. Here, familiarize yourself with The Last Story.

Twisted Metal Gets A Release Date

I’ll just cut to the chase and tell you that the latest Twisted Metal game is coming out this year on October 4th. I’ve been waiting quite a bit for some Twisted Metal action. I would’ve gotten Black when I was younger, but I was still a scared little punk. I would’ve gotten Head-On, but I didn’t have a PSP at the time. So now’s my chance for some awesome Twisted Metal action.

With the characters shown, it looks like series mainstays Axel and Mr. Grimm are back. Black’s Dollface is featured as well (but we all already knew that). And there’s some helicopter action to be had. And ofcourse Calypso is back to be the sly ass he always was.

Grand Knights History Screenshots

Coming courtesy of a Famitsu preview, we have some screenshots of Grand Knights History. Looks like Vanillaware’s artstyle gonna feel right at home with the PSP. Screenshots after the jump

Vanillaware Reveals New Game, Official Site Already Up

Vanillaware, known for games like Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Odin Sphere, and Grim Grimoire, has revealed it’s latest game. Set for release on the PSP, this game is set to release this Summer in Japan.

According to 1UP, the game is a turn-based rpg, a first for Vanillaware since all they’ve been doing is action-based games. However, this one is going to have online elements too. Players will be able to go online and partake in what Project Director Tomohiko Deguchi calls “a full-on war.” Not sure how this’ll play out since this is turn-based, but I’m guessing it’ll resemble something like the ATB system in a lot of the Final Fantasy games.

So far, Vanillaware has yet to gravely disappoint me. Muramasa was good, but not as good as the phenomenal Odin Sphere. From the music on the official site, this is going to be a great experience musically.

Xenoblade Coming to Europe

Is America getting this game next? Who knows. But for now, we can rejoice in knowing that Xenoblade is getting some form of localization at all. Ever since the release of The Last Story in Japan, hopes for Xenoblade getting released in the west pretty much dropped to zero. For now, no one knows who’s doing the localizing of the game. Even though Monolithsoft is under Nintendo now (which would make one assume Nintendo would do the localizing), one can hope that it gets a good transition across the…big mass of land (dammit Europe, almost had me thinking of oceans!)

Catherine Gets Voice for Katherine

We first got the voice for Vincent. Then we got the voice for Catherine with a “C.” To round out this holy trinity, Michelle Ruff will be voicing Katherine with a “K.” Ruff has done voices for C. Viper from Street Fighter IV and Yukari from Persona 3. To our Anime people out there, she’s also done voice work for Bleach, Code Geass, Haruhi, and Durara!!

And so that’s the main cast. As Destructoid pointed out, Vincent, Catherine, and Katherine are being voiced by Persona 3 and 4 veterans. They’ve done some great work on those games, and I’m certain they won’t disappoint for this entry.

Bowdlerize Me Cap’n! DOA: Dimensions US Box Art Censored

I Blame that T Rating.

Hmmm, let’s see. I’m 22 years old, I go to college, and I can make my own decisions as to whether or not I want to see certain things. Soooooo, why the hell is our American cover for Dead or Alive Dimensions showing a severe lack of Kasumi’s thigh? Simple: Because Tecmo Koei (or Nintendo) still thinks that we’re children and can’t handle Kasumi’s inner thigh. Look, we grew up on the Thunder Thighs that is Chun-Li, the Bounceress known as Mai, and DAT ASS known as Ivy (and the rest of the female Soul Calbur cast). I think we can handle Kasumi.

Oh, while we’re at it, Dead Island‘s logo was deemed by the ESRB as “too grisly.” So apparently the ESRB thinks we’re no ready to see hanging zombies spelling out the “I” in “Island.”

Good to see the spirit of Thomas Bowdler is still alive and well in the minds of some people. Oi vey…
