Tekken Producer Proposes Project X Zone Localization, Cross Your Fingers

Ever since the news of Project X Zone‘s small chance of localization caught steam, the efforts of the PXZ Localization Community have picked up. According to an FB post, the leader of the Facebook Group, Anthony, took to Twitter to ask Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of the Tekken series, what it would take to convince Namco (the game’s devs) to bring the game Westward. His response was “I think they don’t localize that. That is unpopular out of Japan.” Not a good sign, but it almost echoed the statement from that Namco rep in the previous article. However ten minutes after that, Harada came back with this tweet, “I’ll ask project marketing team. ‘Let’s localize.'” Things were starting to look up. Finally several hours later, Harada did the deed and followed up with, “I proposed localization of Project X Zone.”

This is an unprecedented move in the efforts of the PXZ Localization Community. Harada is a well respected man in the videogame business, especially in the eyes of the Tekken community (and harbinger of shuttin’ fools down). Not sure how much involvement he has in the project, but his characters are in the game. Not that his characters in the game might matter, but his position in the company might have some kind of impact. Still, there is a chance that is proposal may not be considered. But the fact that it’s even being proposed in the first place by someone in the company might give Namco enough of a hint that people outside Japan want the game as well. It could be the beginning of something big. Fingers crossed guys!

Capcom Wants Shorter Development Time And Smaller Teams To Pump Out More Games

You know that scene in Moonstruck when Cher slaps a guy and yells “Snap out of it!” I want to do that right now with Capcom. According to a report from Gamasutra, to recoup lost revenue and profits this year, they plan to restructure the company to allow for smaller teams to work on games and to also make these games faster. Their reasoning is that, “the company admitted that the decline was down to it releasing ‘only a few major titles‘ over the course of the year.” I’m having a hard time believing this because here we have a game that is a crossover of two big fighting game franchises, another game with a demo of a hotly anticipated game, and said hotly anticipated game coming out later this year. And yet they don’t realize that the regular consumer is starting to become privy to the business practices behind Capcom (thanks in part to us, the internet-going gamers telling them this). And also, Dragon’s Dogma only sold because it was going to have a demo of Resident Evil 6 (think Zone of the Enders with the MGS2 demo). Rather than admit that they are at fault for screwing the average Joe over (and themselves as well), they answer with “well, we just need more games out there.”

Ace Attorney 5 Announced, Hachi Seeks His Fancy Tie and Wig

He’s here to kick ass and provide evidence. And he’s all out of ass…

After several years of languishing in the depths of the “Shit We Don’t Talk About Because We Need To Focus On Re-releasing Our Fighting Games” closet at Capcom, website “My Nintendo News” revealed that the latest issue of Famitsu (basically the premier video game magazine in Japan, and part time Mos Eisley Cantina) features the announcement of the long-awaited Ace Attorney 5, in development for the 3DS. Yup, no “Investigations” spin-off this time, or Layton crossover. It’s an honest-to-goodness mainline installment. This news has me…slightly excited.

Actual photo of Hachi’s room when he heard the news.

Project X Zone Might Get Localized If It Does Well In Japan

Project X Zone, the big crossover SRPG/Fighter between Capcom, Namco, and Sega, is close to release in Japan. Some of us at TWF want to see the game released here. However Namco never showed signs of bringing the game over to the West. That is, until now. According to 100,000 Strong To Localize Project X Zone, someone in the community was able to talk to someone from Namco Bandai (the developers of the game)  during the GameStop Expo in Texas this week, and the rep said that they’re waiting to see if the game sells well first. On their Facebook page, they say that they’re “waiting to see how PXZ sells in japan first before they start getting the license again from Sega and Capcom.” It goes on to state that if it does come over, it’ll be in late 2013/early 2014. 100,000 Strong does stress that an earlier rumor of some characters being nixed if it was localized is completely wrong.

Remember though that this is still all speculation. Even if the game sells well in Japan, there’s still the possibility of the game not making it over. But hey, at least they’re saying something and are aware now instead of staying silent like they’ve doing since the game’s reveal.

Phoenix Wright Trilogy Coming to iOS Devices

While one fanbase gets disappointed and an iOS release, another is getting a kick in shin. Capcom has announced Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD, an iOS port of the first three Phoenix Wright games all packaged into one. For this release, the graphics are getting cleaned up the controls will be optimized for the iOS. Makes sense since the this is essentially and adventure game/visual novel, and the DS releases of course made heavy use of the touch screen. Hey, makes more sense than another game we found out about.

Of course, this isn’t the news that Phoenix Wright fans want to hear since they’re still waiting for Ace Attorney Investigations 2 to be localized. But like I said in the other iOS reveal, maybe this might gauge interest for that game to get localized. Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD is set to release on iOS devices and can be bought separately or all together. Release date and price is TBA.

No Objections Here: Capcom Announces ‘Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD’ For iOS [MTV Multiplayer]

Check out all 3 Resident Evil 6 intro cut-scenes!

Caution Spoiler in the video!

Well, well, well another day, another Resident Evil 6 spoiler! This nifty video uploaded by the folks over at The Sixth Axis, shows all 3 major campaign introductory cut scenes. While we have already seen Chris and Leon’s intro cut-scenes, we have yet to see Jake’s.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m getting  more and more annoyed by the things being show. By the time the game comes out the only thing that wouldn’t be spoiled are the end credits.

Tron Bonne, Lady, And More Join The Fray In Project X Zone

Confirming the scans that popped up some weeks ago, Tron Bonne has joined the Project X Zone cast of characters. Alongside her is a Servbot (a separate character). She’ll be without her fighting game staple Gustaff and fight on-foot (but will bring her MvC moves with her). Still on the Capcom side there’s Lady from Devil May Cry 3. On the Sega side is Bahn from the cage bashing fighting game Fighting Vipers. Finally on the Namco side, Lindow bumps up the Gods Eater crew to three. And the main characters from prequel Namco X Capcom, Reiji and Xiaomu, will represent Namco.

Hideki Kamiya Wants To Return To The Viewtiful Universe

I’m ready to Henshin A Go Go for a sequel!

In an interview between Viewtiful Joe creator Hideki Kamiya and Famitsu, Kamiya admitted he would like to make a sequel to the famed hero of Movieland’s games. The Viewtiful Joe series is made up of four installments: the original, part deux, Double Trouble on the DS, and their Super Smash Bros. clone Red Hot Rumble. This writer is glad to support this idea all the way. Unfortunately when Kamiya made Viewtiful Joe he was still working under Capcom, so they have all the rights to the franchise. One can only hope that he will be able to one day get the rights to his creation again and make that sequel.

Resident Evil 6: Ada Wong scenarios plus more!

As an avid Resident Evil fan, the months spent waiting for Resident Evil 6 have been excruciatingly long. However with the release of extra trailers, character profiles, game play footage and not to mention various conferences, Capcom has given us fans something to tide us over while we wait.

Game play footage released today from the Japanese Biohazard Youtube Channel, shows Ada Wong navigating through a cemetery, while skeleton-like zombies chase after her. The footage also shows Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy cross-overs. Much has been made about the cross over feature of Resident Evil 6 and seeing Ada Wong being thrown in to the mix is rather exciting to say the least.  According to Official PlayStation Magazine UK, the Ada scenario will a single player experience and is unlocked when all 3 main campaigns are completed. This definitely brings back fond memories of Ada’s Separate Ways mission from Resident Evil 4.

While I am excited with the video released today, is too much being spoiled? I can only hope that the developers do not mind showing this much now, because there are other amazing things to be had once Resident Evil 6 is released on October 2nd, 2012.

After the jump, be sure to check out the video for Agent Hunt Mode which is a competitive online mode!

Resident Evil 6 extended game play footage

Ever since Resident Evil 6 was first announced back in January, we have only seen snippets of chapter scenarios. It’s been recently with E3 and Comic Con, that Resident Evil fans have been able to view more game play footage. But even then, it was footage taken from the middle of a chapter scenario.

Youtuber and video game reviewer DvLZGaME was able to get his hands on extended scenario game play for both Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield, that shows more of the intro sequences. What are also interesting to note are the loading screen animations and some of the initial trailer images, such as Chris shoving a camera man and Leon and Helena falling out of a helicopter and in to a pit of zombies…too bad that’s not really what happens.

Unfortunately, we don’t speak Arabic in this fish tank, so we can’t decipher his commentary but the footage is pretty awesome and worth taking a look.

If you don’t mind being spoiled, check out more below.

New Project X Zone Scans Show Tron Bonne In Action

Well well well, looks like we have a couple of Bonnes in the audience. Scans from a magazine (probably Famitsu) featuring Project X Zone have show screenshots of characters not officially revealed yet. Reiji and Xiaomu, the main original characters from Namco X Capcom, are present in the game. Tron Bonne from the legendary Mega Man Legends series is also here as well. So far it’s not known if they’ll be playable or be used for something else. It’s painfully ironic how she’s in this game, a 3DS game mind you, and last year the game she was supposed to appear in got canceled, which was also a 3DS game. Hope maybe?

You can see the scans after the break.

Night-Time Listenings Wrap-Up: Week of 7/16/12

This week we went back to the 90s again. This time we covered music that was inspired by what was playing on the airwaves at the time. The streets were cleaned with Street of Rage. Then we jammed to the music of Sonic The Hedgehog 3. We played hard with Killer Instinct 2/Gold. We prowled the urban jungle in Street Fighter III. And finally, we rocked out to Maximum Carnage.

If you want to see the music as it goes up (and not wait every Saturday for these wrap-ups), remember to go to our Tumblr page and follow it. Music for Night-Time Listenings goes up every weekday at 10PM

Characters Confirmed So Far For Project X Zone

It’s a little tough keeping up with some of the news for Project X Zone since it pops up randomly at times. I’ve missed out on certain character reveals due to working on other parts of the site. But to make up for it, I’ll be recapping all the characters revealed so far for Project X Zone. It might be a little tough to remember who’s in the game, which company they represent, and what game they originally came from. So you can use this article to reference some basic info on each character. Remember that this is not the final character roster and is certain to grow as time move along. And there might not be anymore characters revealed until after the game is played.
