Katamari Damacey To Be Exhibited At MoMA

Videogames are movin’ on up guys. Not to be outdone by the History of Videogames exhibit at the Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City is going to showcase Katamari Damacy as part of their Century of the Child: Growing By Design exhibit. The program’s goal is to showcase things that were created and geared towards children from 1900 to 2000. The showcases range from parks to toys to books and so on. Speaking of which, an Astro Boy manga is also being shown in the exhibit as well. Going back to Katamari Damacy for a bit, Namco Bandai’s VP of Marketing Carlson Choi stated in a press release”

“Namco Bandai Games’ Katamari Damacy has touched countless people, from children to adults, and is truly a modern video game classic. The inclusion of Katamari Damacy in this ground breaking exhibit is a testament to the creative designs embodied in Namco Bandai’s games and shows the importance of video games in peoples’ lives in addition to being a validation of video games as a modern form of interactive art.”

Not bad guys, not bad. If anyone is interested in seeing the exhibit, they can hit up the MoMA in New York City. They’re located in 11 West 53rd Street in Manhattan. The Exhibition started this past Sunday and goes on ’til November 5th.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gets Some Added Features

I see a sequel coming!!!

In a recent interview between Dragon’s Dogma creator Hideaki Itsuno and Famitsu, he offered some insight on what added features the game’s will contain that didn’t make it to the first installment. Such features was the concept of a quest creator that Itsuno wanted to implement in the first game couldn’t due to time constraints. Along with this hint, Itsuno also says the game will be a lot bigger and things like story and gameplay are going to be much better and expanded upon. So maybe finally we will get to fight colossus-like giants in the next game to scale up on and some much needed multiplayer in this bitch.

Playstation All-Stars Characters And Stages Leaked?

Today a poster by the name of Luukyk over on NeoGAF posted up images and info that’s been supposedly downloaded from the beta of Sony’s crossover fighter Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. From the image above, you can see that Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 4, Dante from the upcoming DmC: Devil May Cry, and Nariko from Heavenly Sword seem to be in it. Also, fan favorites Sir Dan Fortesque from Medieval and Spike from Ape Escape are in as well. Heihachi’s not much of a surpise since he’s already been revealed earlier. Some stages have also made the rounds here as well. For the stages, Columbia from Bioshock Infinite, Invasion from Killzone, Franzea from LocoRoco, and Timestation from Ape Escape are shown in the post (among others). There are also files from the Beta that suggest other characters popping in as assist characters in certain actions or are in the background (like Kuma showing up for some of Heihachi’s moves).

Part of me is kinda skeptical of these images. The stages I can believe, looks pretty legit. The characters though are… kinda questionable. However given Sony’s propensity to protect things with a spaghetti strainer, there might be some truth to the images here. You can see the images of the stages after the break.

New Project X Zone Scans Show Tron Bonne In Action

Well well well, looks like we have a couple of Bonnes in the audience. Scans from a magazine (probably Famitsu) featuring Project X Zone have show screenshots of characters not officially revealed yet. Reiji and Xiaomu, the main original characters from Namco X Capcom, are present in the game. Tron Bonne from the legendary Mega Man Legends series is also here as well. So far it’s not known if they’ll be playable or be used for something else. It’s painfully ironic how she’s in this game, a 3DS game mind you, and last year the game she was supposed to appear in got canceled, which was also a 3DS game. Hope maybe?

You can see the scans after the break.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Actually NOT Cancelled

Last week it was rumored that Final Fantasy Versus XIII was cancelled after Kotaku’s Brian Ashcraft laid out a somewhat detailed breakdown (in conjunction with “sources”) on how little of Versus XIII was actually shown to the public and its absence from major conventions like E3, TGS, and Gamescom. Square Enix head honcho Yoichi Wada stepped in to confirm that Final Fantasy Versus XIII was very much alive and that he had come back from a meeting regarding the game. Via Twitter, he stated, “There’s someone making a false rumor that Versus was cancelled. Haha…Just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it’d knock you off your feet~lol”

Looks like Versus XIII is alive and well. However, I still have this feeling it won’t be keeping that Versus name for long. Still though, I wish Square would just show something already with the game! I wanna see this city Wada’s going on about!

Rumor: Nintendo Negotiating With Microsoft On Rare Properties (And Maybe Even Rare Itself)

Before Retro Studios became Nintendo’s new Rare, Rareware was the talk of the town during the old days of Nintendo. They developed hits like the Donkey Kong Country trilogy on the SNES and a plethora of games on the N64, including Banjo Kazooie, Goldeneye 007, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Jet Force Gemini, and others. Microsoft bought Rare near the start of the new millennium, with Nintendo selling off the rest of their shares to Microsoft. Today Rare makes Kinect games and are the developers of the Xbox Live Avatars.

According to an anonymous tipster on ZeldaInformer, Nintendo is in talks with Microsoft to buy back the Banjo-Kazooie IP. The article does state that there could be the possibility that Nintendo might want all of Rare back with them to keep Banjo-Kazooie, but also obtain all of Rare’s other properties. There’s of course lots of hopeful words, some that sound way too good to be true. If Nintendo wanted Rare back, who’s to say Microsoft might keep some of Rare’s properties (like Nintendo did with their own)?. And who’s to say Nintendo could obtain many assets from Rare, but Microsoft keeps the Rare name? Lots of questions, barely any answers. But do take this news as it is: a rumor. One Big. Ass. Rumor.

Newsbreak: Rumors Abound of FF Versus 13 Cancellation, Hachi Suddenly Recalls That FF Versus 13 Exists

Noctis apparently doing his impression of his creators…

Sourcehttp://kotaku.com/5927645/rumor-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-is-dead

In an article posted early this morning, Kotaku added some fuel to the ol’ rumor mill by announcing that, according to several of their sources, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, part of the series of games planned to take place in the Final Fantasy XIII universe, has been quietly cancelled. They say that instead of making a public announcement, Square Enix has decided to apparently let the game fade away, since stock concerns may arise if they make too much of a fuss.

“No Squeenix! Not like this!”

Final Fantasy XIII, released in 2009, was the latest in the venerable Final Fantasy franchise of JRPGs. Back when it was announced, however, it was also announced that there would be several games in the FF XIII “line”, as it were, spanning different genres and consoles. Said line is collectively referred to as the “Fabula Nova Crystallis” mythology, which incidentally sounds like the BEST GLAM ROCK BAND NAME EVER.

Cloud’s later years were marked by…”experimentation”. Go ahead, I DARE you to tell me that she doesn’t look like a modern FF character…

One of the other installments in this line, Final Fantasy Type-0 (originally announced as “Final Fantasy Agito XIII“), which is for the PSP, appears to be in pretty fine health. But Versus had always had a…sporadic existence, popping up every now and then as if to remind you it was alive. Since its announcement in 2006, the game has made precious few appearances in public, and what little we know of the game’s overall play engine, one more action oriented than its predecessors, has come more from here-say than footage. The six-year blackout has given the game a sort of “vaporware” reputation, one that makes this announcement tragic but, to me, not earth shattering.

It should be noted that, in the article, the writer mentions that Squeenix has actually folded the resources that would go to this game into the next numeric installment in the series, creatively titled Final Fantasy XV. If so, perhaps we need less look at this as the death of the game and more as an assimilation of it into a greater whole, like some JRPG Borg Collective. That makes it better, right!?

Okay, all snarking aside, the difficult history of the game lends a sad amount of credence to this rumor (which, I must stress, is still a RUMOR). And to be perfectly honest, of all the generations of the game to do this in, Squeenix could not have chosen a worse installment to try something like this in. Although selling mightily, reviews and fan reaction in general for FF XIII have been rather divisive, with some reacting badly to the game’s innovations and cutbacks. FFXIII-2, released as a sort of answer to said complaints, further divided fans who regretted the focus gameplay change at the expense of storyline efficiency.

By extension, any game that would be released under this line (the FNC games will all share the same universe, albeit at different periods in time) would have some amount of difficulty due to the association with the aforementioned installment. For comparison, when Final Fantasy X-2 was released back in the day, it was attached to an almost universally loved installment in the franchise, and, in addition to starting this retarded naming convention, even that game, due to tonal changes and the like, has an…interesting effect on the fandom. The FF XIII label, meanwhile, already inspires some heated division, and that may, honestly, have hurt this game a lot when it was released. Oh, it would have still sold more than a Beatles album released by Jesus himself, but the fanbase chaos would have been amazing.

I wish I could comment on the game in the context of its gameplay, but, well, we don’t have any of it to comment ON…

So, here’s to tomorrows hopes…

More JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle Info released

If things hold true then we can expect a lot of expressions like these

In an interview with Famitsu, CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Maruyama released info on the next upcoming JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle game. Maruyama stated that the game is not going to be a fighting game but is in fact going to be a “Jojo” game. And because of this aim, the game is going to run a 30FPS instead of the usual 60FPS. The team, Maruyama says, are ultimate Jojo fans and felt that with the game running at 30FPS, it’s easier for them to portray the famous expressions that the series’ characters are known for. Finally Maruyama states that the games roster will be bigger than what people would expect. So how do you feel about the choice of making the game go 30FPS instead of 60FPS? Will there be a significant difference for the better or good? Let me see your comments.

Phil Fish Not Patching Fez For The Second Time

Sorry to all the 1%

Phil Fish, the creator of the hit indie game Fez has been bombarded by fans who have been suffering from in-game issues like save file corruption, frame rate issues, and such that affected 1% of his fans after the installation of the first patch. The reason for this, according to Fish, is that patching the game will take around thousands of dollars to fix, and a number of $40,000 was thrown out there as the exact number it would take.

Another reason is that his company, Polyton, already owes money towards Microsoft, stating that he had to pay to become an exclusive on Xbox Live Arcade. Phil finally then released a proper statement. “To the less-than-1% who are getting screwed, we sincerely apologize. We know this hurts you the most, because you’re the ones who put the most times into the game. And this breaks our hearts. We hope you dont think back on your time spent in FEZ as a total waste.”

Did Activision Tell Nintendo To Make The Wii U Pro Controller Look The Way It Is?

According to Michael Pachter the reason why the Wii U Pro Controller looks like an Xbox 360 controller is because companies like Activision would not bring over certain games if Nintendo didn’t have a conventional controller. This is mainly in regards to First-Person Shooters. Now I know what you’re thinking, “Pachter? Really?” I know, I know. But to put things into perspective, we haven’t heard much from companies like Activision on the Wii U. Not that Nintendo needs anyone of that ilk, but they do bring in a great deal of that gamer cash, and console makers do get some piece of that pie. But if this is true and this is what companies considered “conventional,” then is show how safe and scared of change these companies are.

Now if you excuse me, I must pay a visit to my Super Scope memorial.

Suda 51’s Heart Wasn’t In The Final Product Of Shadows Of The Damned

He is one out of 3 people that really inspire me

According to Shinji Mikami, director of Resident Evil 4, Suda 51′s heart was not in the final release of Shadows of the Damned, which he acted as Executive Director of the project. The director went on to say, “It became a completely different game. That was a bit disappointing. I think Suda was unable to create the scenario he’d originally had in his head, and he rewrote the scenario several times. I think his heart was broken. He’s such a unique creator, so it seems to me that he was not quite comfortable with making this game. The game was nothing like Suda had planned, which is rather sad. Mind you, if we’d made it as he originally planned, it probably would have sold even less, but it would have been very unique.”

It is hard to say anything because I’m not one to believe something unless I hear or read it from the main source’s mouth. But if this is true, then wow. If I can say something to Suda 51 then I will tell him that I liked Shadows Of The Damned even if it wasn’t his ideal end product. It still came out good. If there was something you can say to Suda what would you tell him? Out of a lot of game companies out there, his company and he himself are the few that are doing something different, hate to see a guy like this get discouraged from making great games.

Nintendo Wii Could Help Cancer Patients With Fatigue

Doctor Mii at your service!

Amy Hoffman, a nursing researcher at Michigan University’s College Of Nursing, is getting a grant of $379,741.00 and a Nintendo Wii console to help lower the risk of fatigue her lung cancer patience suffer from, especially after surgery. NSCLC (Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer) is the most common lung cancer by about 85% and icauses life threatening risks alone, but even the treatments can also cause high risks. So Hoffman’s been looking for a solution as she mentioned “Nearly half of all Americans live with at least one chronic illness, and nearly a quarter of Americans having multiple chronic illnesses. The needs of the chronically ill are not being met, and a common challenge noted by patients with cancer is self-management of symptoms.”

Deadpool Gets His Own Game and Seems Excited For It

Can we please see this team up in the game!

Well the people at High Moon Studios, Marvel and Activision are giving the psychopathic hired gun and semi hero a game of his own titled, by the hero, Deadpool. It is just as crazy as he is. There’s not a a lot of news coming with the reveal of this game, but you can expect it to come out for PS3, Xbox 360, and gladly the Wii U (which has been confirmed), but the game trailer has revealed more than the actual makers.

The game will have you fighting military type enemies in a 3rd person hack & slash/shooter style with some over-the-top gore. The trailer also revealed a lady that looks very similar to X-Men’s Psylocke. But what the trailer did in my eyes very well is portraying its sense of humor that was so hilarious and funny to watch. So while the gameplay doesn’t look like it has much depth in it, the comedy looks like it has top notch writing. Do you think Deadpool deserves a game? Was anybody surprised by this? Because him having a game came out nowhere for me, and from what I see the highlight for it so far seems to be its humor.
